What Katie Did lingerie
In 1999 lingerie designer Katie Halford set up her brand new lingerie company and called it What Katie Did. She was inspired to start her company when she couldn’t find the seamed stockings she wanted at an affordable price. So she ordered £100 worth or wholesale stockings, built and website and began selling her product.
A year later in 2000 she made connections with Rachel, the manager of Cobblers to the World, a specialty shoe boutique. Rachel moved Katie into a corner of their shop and helped her concentrate on building a good range of stockings.
Once Katie has a strong range of stockings, her next step was to design something to hold them up. And since Katie had always had a big passion for corsets, she started putting her attention to creating a corset range.
Katie had experience in the corset industry because she started her career at Skin Two Retail in 1995. Even by 2000 the only place to get proper steel boned corsets and nylon fully fashioned stockings was in fetish shops. In January 2006 Katie’s company, What Katie Did, launched its first corset range. In October 2007 the company opened its first flagship boutique off Portobello Road.
What Katie Did currently releases two collections a year that are available in boutiques all over the world.
